IDOT: Snow and ice cover Northern Illinois highways, streets

The Illinois Department of Transportation says most roads in Northern Illinois are covered with ice or snow.

Winnebago, Boone, DeKalb, Lee and Stephenson Counties all have highways covered with snow or ice, according to IDOT.

Officials encourage motorists to stay off the roads Wednesday if possible, but to drive slow and leave space if you plan to make a commute.
