STATELINE, Ill. (WIFR)- - People all over The Forest City try to prepare for our first snowstorm of the year.

"I just make sure I have shovels, make sure I have heat for my car, make sure I have plenty of salt," said Janette Brooks. "I also make sure my snow thrower is all tuned up and ready to go. I have a few snacks in the car for emergencies and a blanket."

"We got everything last night. We got all our shovels out and our snowblower where we can get to it. So, we are ready," said Coral Lundin.

Nick works at Blain's Farm and Fleet. He says the team also came ready for the rise in customers.

"We can sell salt by the pallets. People are definitely getting a lot of it. We can sell the big one ton bags of it too," said Nick who manages Blain's Farm and Fleet.

Stateliners say they have felt pretty lucky with the mild winter so far, but they are ready for the snow.

"I have lived here all my life, yeah. so we know what it is like. It's not that we love it, but we deal with it. This is our home," said Lundin.
