Hononegah alum recalls decorating White House for holidays

WASHINGTON (WIFR) -- Visiting the White House once seemed like just a dream for Hononegah grad Chelsea Demos. But the dream became a reality unlike anything else last week.

Demos was chosen among a select group of volunteers to help decorate the White House for Christmas. She organized ornaments, bows and several other decorations, helping light up the trees in the state dining room and in the east room.

Demos helped out with around 100 volunteers from all over the nation. She says she's grateful for the opportunity to decorate the White House for the holidays.

"I kind of teared up for a moment because it was kind of surreal to think that I'm here," Demos said. "I accomplished a huge goal of mine and just incredible that I'm able to represent my community and state on this huge journey."

Demos flew in an airplane for her very first time to help decorate in the nation's capitol.

After this experience, she hopes to start her own design business with hopes of helping for weddings and interior design.
