ROCKFORD, Ill. /WISCONSIN (WIFR) -- A 15-year-old is murdered in Rockford just after Christmas and now Rockford Police believe they have their man.
26-year-old Latravius Stringer of Rockford now faces first degree murder charges after being picked up by deputies in Wisconsin. Stringer's charges stem from the December 27 fatal shooting near the intersection of Preston Street and South Central Avenue.
15-year-old Lavontay Allen was killed in the shooting while Allen's mother, 40-year-old Jaton Watts was also shot. Watts was treated for non-life threatening wounds.
According to police, Stringer was first seen traveling in a car in Rockford that led authorities on a chase all the way to the Village of Mukwonago, about twenty miles southwest of Milwaukee in Waukesha County. Both the driver and passenger were arrested.
Stringer is currently in the Walworth County Jail in Elkhorn on one million dollars bond. Rockford Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests could be made.
