Home, car struck by gunfire near downtown Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford home and vehicle were struck by gunfire on the city's south side Sunday morning.

Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1100 block of 21st Avenue around 3 a.m. Officers did not initially notice any damage, but came back to the area after another ShotSpotter alert around 4:20 a.m.

After responding a second time, police say a home and car were struck by gunfire several times. Police say no one was home, but there had been a party at the location earlier in the night.

Police say no one was reportedly hurt.
