WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- More than a dozen Winnebago County elected officials were sworn in to their new roles Monday morning, highlighted by Marilyn Hite Ross stepping in as the county's state's attorney.
Hite Ross was among more than a dozen county officials and judges who took oath for their new roles.
Hite Ross says she plans to carry out the foundation set by Joe Bruscato, who she replaces after working alongside ten years.
"As I officially take office, I'm reminded of the awesome responsibility that the state's attorney has to the citizens of the community," Hite Ross said. "I take that as a badge of honor."
Bruscato, who was sworn in as the 17th Circuit Court judge believes Hite Ross is prepared to take on new responsibilities.
"I know that this is such an important role," Bruscato said. "The community looks to its judges to help make sure that decisions are made so that our community is a decent place to live."
Bruscato is confident Hite Ross will keep the county safe and make sure justice is administered.
