"Hello Japan" spends last day in Stateline

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Today Rockford Discovery Museum says "Sayonara" to their "Hello Japan" exhibit.

The exhibit shows what it's like to live in modern-day Japan and also gives a taste of traditional Japanese culture. Organizers say the exhibit was purposely set up to feel congested to show what it's like to actually be in Japan.

"Hello Japan" also offered activities to help kids learn how to write in Japanese, make a wish on the wishing tree, and hear about common Japanese recipes.

"Rockford is an excellent place to have this exhibit because, not only can you make this family-friendly and fun to play with with your kids, but we also have a community here in Rockford that has been very excited and welcoming of us introducing their culture and their heritage," says Discovery Museum Education Specialist, Meghan Richards.

The next exhibit coming to that space at Discovery Museum will be called "Great Balls of Fire" and will be about comets and asteroids.
