Harlem athletic training department gets $4,000 check from Chicago Bears

MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WIFR) - Bears coming to the aid of Huskies. Not somewhere in the wilderness, but instead in the halls of Harlem High.

A member of the Chicago Bears’ community relations department presented the Harlem athletic department with a $4,000 check as part of the Chicago Bears Matching Grant Program. Each year the NFL and their teams provide funding to high schools to help with the cost of providing an athletic trainer for football programs. Athletico Physical Therapy nominated Harlem to receive the grant.

“Our student athletic trainers here at the high school; they take educational classes. anatomy, physiology,” said Harlem and Athletico Trainer Jason Lubben. “That gets them ready for the next level at college. And then we also have an athletic training club. So we talk about more specifics on athletic training, injury prevention, injury care and injury treatment
