WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) - The battle between Winnebago County Chairperson Frank Haney and the county board could come to an end if a new agreement is made.
Haney has shared a list of 26 items he would like completed by the time his role as chairperson ends in December of 2020.
Some of the big items he'd like to work through include finalizing a capital improvement plan focusing on public safety, implementing a multi-year financial forecasting process and Haney wants the board to decide what the next chairperson's responsibilities will be before he ends his term.
"it is imperative that the county board focus on what is the chairman job going to look like 2020 and 2024, if we're going to see 14 attempted ordinance changes to the job during that time you're going to see the same type of rough and tumble back and forth that you’ve seen in the last three years and that would be unfortunate,” Haney said.
Haney also hopes to continue to provide funding to the Barber Colman site and wants the board to vote on the sheriff's request for body cameras and tasers before the end of this year.
Haney says on Monday the board will meet to discuss his list of goals.
