Rockford man arrested for threatening T-Mobile employees with a gun

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Rockford man who allegedly threatened T-Mobile employees with a gun Tuesday evening is behind bars.

Joe Harris, 37, was arrested for an attempted armed robbery at the T-Mobile store at 741 S. Perryville Rd.

Rockford police were called to the store around 5 p.m. Police say a man, later identified as Harris, entered the business and claimed he needed to pick up a product.

When the employees could not verify the purchase, Harris reportedly showed a handgun and threatened them. The suspect left the store empty-handed and was arrested nearby.

Harris was charged with attempted armed robbery and unlawful use of weapons by a felon. He is being held at the Winnebago County Jail and is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.

Police say the suspect left empty-handed an no one was hurt.
