Gov. Pritzker signs legislation to eliminate Medicaid application backlog
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed new legislation Monday to expand access to healthcare and eliminate the Medicaid application backlog.
Pritzker says this legislation will reform and improve access to Medicaid, which is the largest single source of insurance in the state. The new legislation kicks off National Health Centers Week.
Gov. Pritzker says this aggressive legistlation will also bring transparency to the system to better serve those who rely on it.
"We're also reducing the amount of time the health care providers have to wait for payment from manage care organizations, requiring expedited reimbursments to the hospitals and clinics that dedicate a large number of resources to serving Medicaid families," says Pritzker.
More than 3 million Illinoisans rely on Medicaid.
