Go Red for Women Luncheon raises awareness on women's heart health

ROCKFORD, Ill (WIFR) -- To raise awareness on heart health, Rockford goes red Wednesday for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women luncheon.

23 News Anchor Shannon Kelly emceed the event where women shared their journeys and battles with cardiovascular disease. It's the number one killer of women. The goal is to raise awareness for heart healthcare for women, promote healthy choices and inspire everyone to lead a healthier lifestyle.

“It's a huge fundraiser for American Heart Association and all of the money goes directly toward American Heart for research and awareness. All of the research that it's doing, all the preventable thing that can happen, that's what the money goes directly to,” said 2020 Go Red for Women Luncheon Chair Suzanne Fischer.
