ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) ----- The second annual Rockford Rescue Mission Car Show celebrated the best of hot rods while giving back to those in need.
The family-friendly event showcased both new and vintage cars for people of all ages to enjoy while in the gorgeous early summer sun.
"It's a lot of fun, it adds a little bit of color to our store, it brings attention to the store because we're on Harrison and 20th, which is not exactly downtown. So, what we want to do is let people know that we're here and that we have a lot to offer," said Bill Mercurio, Rockford Rescue Mission Thrift Store Supervisor.
Held in the Mission's thrift store parking lot, proceeds from today's event go to ongoing services to help better the lives of homeless men, women and children in the Stateline.
