ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Have you ever wondered about your family history or how it can shape the future of your family? This Wednesday Curt Witcher is speaking at Rock Valley College to teach how knowing your story can give meaning to your life.

Witcher is a genealogy expert who manages the largest genealogy center in the nation in Indiana. He wants to inspire college age students to know about where they came from so they can continue telling important stories for generations to come.

“It doesn't matter your background, your education, your ethnicity, everybody has a story and knowing that story, discovering that story is a powerful, meaningful thing to do, and everyone can do it. There's really simple steps. It can be a really long path, but it can be a really enjoyable path,” said Curt Witcher.

The talk is open to the public and will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 19 in the Jacobs Center for Science and Math, Room 1104, at Rock Valley College, 3301 N. Mulford Road.
