ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- More than 30 community organizations come together to provide fresh food for this year's Boone County Farmer's Market and Wellness Fair.
Promoting a healthy lifestyle, groups set up tables at the Boone County Administration campus. The event gives guests the chance to connect with service groups and local farmers.
Organizers say the wellness fair is a great way for the community to get their hands on fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables, while also meeting those who grow the food.
Some farmers say although the weather hasn't been great fro growing crops, they still have plenty of fresh options.
"This particular year, because Mother Nature has been so awful, we usually have sweet corn, but we don't," says Mary Brubach from Susie's Garden Patch. "Sweet corn is one of the big sellers here. The fruits as a whole, the fresh cherries, the blueberries, the raspberries are also huge sellers."
