Fundraiser for Lindsey family to raise domestic violence awareness

LOVES PARK, Ill. (WIFR) -- After one Stateline woman is killed and another is critically injured in February, a family member says she's working to stand up against domestic violence.

Jennifer Lindsey, 42, was killed Feb. 15 in the 3200 block of 9th Street. Her daughter, Katelynn, was seriously hurt from gunshot wounds.

Stephanie Lindsey, a close family member to the victims, is calling for people to take the issue of domestic violence more seriously.

"We have to come together as one United community to help and teach each other to be better, to teach our children at a very young age about abuse and that it's not okay," she said.

The fundraiser is Friday, Apr. 5 at Park Lanes Bowl in Loves Park.

Check-in is at 8:30 p.m. The cost is $50 per person, or $10 for just the all-you-can-eat pasta buffet.

The cost covers three games and rental shoes. There will also be a silent auction and 50/50 fundraiser option.
