ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- An employee at the Chicago Rockford International Airport was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons after a plane leaked fuel inside the AAR hanger around 10:45 Saturday morning.
RFD fire crews say employees were working on repairing a plane when a valve did not automatically close like it should causing an accidental active leak. Crews then removed the fuel from the plane.
The airport fire department, Rockford Fire Department and the Hazmat team were called in.
The airport fire department says four employees were directly affected by the fuel spill. No one was injured. One person was transported to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.
The spill did not affect any airport operations.
Cleanup crews were finished around 1 p.m.
