Freeport man arrested for electronic harassment

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) - A Freeport man is arrested for multiple charges including electronic harassment.

Around 9:30 p.m. Monday, Freeport Police Officers were called to the parking lot of Aldi’s at 726 West South Street in reference to a domestic incident. Officers met with the victim, a 19-year-old woman from Freeport. The victim reported her ex-boyfriend and father of her child, Terry Profit, had called her multiple times during the day harassing her. The victim alleged that Profit followed her in her vehicle and when she stopped in the Aldi’s parking lot, he ran up to her car window and began banging on the window threatening to harm and kill her.

Freeport Police Officers were able to locate the suspect and he was arrested and taken into custody. During the investigation, it was discovered that Profit was subject to bail bond conditions that prevented him from having contact with the victim.

Profit was charged with harassment through electronic communications, violations of bail bond and disorderly conduct. He is being held at the Stephenson County Jail in Lieu of bond
