Freeport Police issue travel advisory due to heavy flooding

FREEPORT, Ill. (WIFR) UPDATE - 7:30 AM: The rain has slowed and the water is coming down quickly. Several intersections that had been impassable are now open but please continue to use caution when driving.


Due to Tuesday morning's thunderstorms Freeport Police are issuing a travel advisory.

Police report they are getting many reports of flooded roadways in Freeport and cars stalling out in deep water. Officials advise the public to use caution when driving on the roadways and and to not drive into deep waters.

Areas affected include but are not limited to; Locust Avenue near Freeport High School, South West Avenue near Freeport High School, Galena Avenue and Greenfield Drive, and Chicago Avenue and Linden Street.
