UPDATE: Forreston High School teen killed in crash identified

CARROLL COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- We now know the name of the teen killed early Monday morning in a one-car crash.

The Carroll County Coroner says 16-year-old Drew Crase died from his injuries after his car went airborne, before landing upside down in a pond near a driveway off of IL Route 73 near Lanark.

Investigators say they found Crase's car in a ditch around 12:40 a.m. on Monday. They say the car struck a driveway culvert which caused it to go airborne.

Both the coroner and Forreston High School confirms Crase was a student at the school.


CARROLL COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Carroll County Coroner confirms a teen was killed following a one car crash that happened just after midnight Monday morning.

Forreston High School confirms the 16-year-old boy was a student at the high school, however his name is not being released until family is notified by the coroner.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Department says the crash happened on IL. Route 73 about a half mile north of the junction with IL. Route 72, just north of Lanark.

Investigators believe the car went airborne after it drove off the road and into a ditch. Sheriff's deputies say they found the car upside down in a pond near a driveway.

The teen driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was inside the car at the time of the crash.
