Firefighters investigating 'suspicious' early morning fires

UPDATE: ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Rockford Fire Department are investigating two early morning house fires called "suspicious."

Firefighters first responded to a house fire
house fire in the 1400 block of 7th Avenue around 3 a.m. The fire department also responded to a house fire in the 3100 block of 8th street around 5 a.m.

Officials are looking into the possibility of a connection between both fires.

The Rockford Fire Department is working to put out a house fire in the 3100 block of 8th Street on Thursday morning.

Around 5 a.m. crews were called to the scene for a residential structure fire. Officials reported that smoke and fire were coming through the roof. Crews were able to put out the fire in about ten minutes. The structure was later demolished. No injuries were reported.

This fire comes about an hour after an earlier house fire on 7th Avenue. It is unknown at this time if these two incidents are related.
