Firefighters battle a house fire in Roscoe early this morning

UPDATE: ROSCOE, Ill. (WIFR) -- Harlem-Roscoe fire says the family is safe after their home in the 7300 block of Grace Drive.

The department says the fire was contained to the chimney and roof area.

Crews worked to extinguish any hot spots in the home.

Initial reports were for a chimney fire, but quickly upgraded to a two-alarm fire once the Harlem-Roscoe fire department got on-scene.

Investigations will continue into the morning hours. The department is determining if the home is still livable.


ROSCOE, Ill. (WIFR) -- A chimney fire quickly turns into a fully involved house fire in Roscoe early this morning.

Harlem-Roscoe Fire and Winnebago County Sheriff's Department got the call for a chimney fire in the 7300 block of Grace Drive just before 4:00.

Once on scene, the fire wa upgraded to a two-alarm fire. A number of stations were called to the scene including Cherry Valley, Loves Park, South Beloit and North Park Fire.

No details on injuries as of now. We have a crew on-scene and will provide updates as they come in.
