ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) ----- "Let's bring this positivity to Rockford, let's just do it."
Tables stocked with locally made art, jewelry, fashions and more lined the KenRock Community Center in Rockford for the Female Energy Art Show.
"It's just a place for everyone to get recognized because it's Women's Month, it's National Women's Month, so I wanted to spread light on all of the women who do a great job at being great women in Rockford," said event curator Evangelina Jimenez.
For local enterpreneur Genesis Guajardo, having the opportunity to showcase her company's work in a safe and supportive environment is a welcome change.
"We as women and as minorities have had many more challenges than male owned businesses or really anybody else type of business. So we face a lot of challenges, but also it shows us our strength and I think a lot of women here have that power to really unite with each other and collaborate. Instead of pushing each other down, we lift each other up," said Guajardo.
For Gaby Gamoneda, debuting her passion project in the heart of her city is something she says she'll never forget.
"It's just being a part of something that is impactful. Like look at this crowd of people, this crowd of people, it's just amazing. Hey, if i can help one person, that's enough for me," said Gamoneda.
