ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- On Wednesday night, NIU Rockford hosted the region’s biggest and longest running business pitch competition to compete for a 5,000 dollar grand prize.
Competitors at the fast pitch competition take part in a three minute pitch where they share their passion, research and outline of their business plan in front of judges and potential investors. Those who earn high scores move onto the second phase of the competition and share their ideas on the big stage. The five thousand dollar grand prize winner tonight was Anthony Valiulis inventor of the Accutrack which uses RFID tags and Bluetooth for retail merchandise inventory.
"The end goal is to really try to educate these entrepreneurs and business owners into how to make a successful pitch to somebody and as the same time networking with people that are doing the same thing they are,” Mike Cobert from the NIU Eigerlab said
