Family displaced after early morning house fire

Residents are safely evacuated after a house fire Thursday morning in Rockford.

Around 2:30 a.m. Rockford Firefighters responded to the 100 block of Lakin Terrace for reports of a house fire. Officials said two children and two adults were able to get out safely. No injuries to the residents or firefighters were reported.

Fire crews were able to put out the flames in about 20 minutes. The Red Cross is now assisting the family.

The damages are estimated at $20,000 and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
