Experts offer financial advice during America Saves Week

Experts say America Saves Week is the perfect time to consider saving some extra money.

Northwest Bank offers says there are some steps you can take now to prepare for future finances.

Experts say you should reduce debt and build wealth by setting a plan for retirement. You can also save by setting up automatic transfers from your checking to your savings account and putting aside bonuses.

Joe Larkin, assistant vice president Northwest Bank, suggests saving raises and tax refunds for a rainy day.

"With tax refunds that most people get this time of year its a great chance for them to start a savings plan," Larkin said. "If they have some hard time they can save up more consistently throughout the year."

America Saves Week runs from Feb. 25 to March 2.
