Dozens come out for Habitat for Humanity's Volunteer Appreciation Event
Celebrating its dedicated volunteers as the Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity took over Prairie Street Brewhouse for its fifth annual Volunteer Appreciation event.
The non-profit development program provides affordable housing to families in need across the Rockford region, all through volunteer support.
On Sunday, everyone from construction volunteers to painters and every job in between came together to eat, drink and be merry, getting thanks for all of the hard work they do day in and day out.
"This organization wouldn't work without the backbone of our volunteers and so we put on our first Volunteer Appreciation event five years ago. And so, today is the day that our staff come together to thank all of our volunteers that make Habitat work," said Executive Director Keri Asevedo.
At Sunday’s celebration, the organization gave our multiple awards to its dedicated team, including one for lifetime achievement.
