Dog dies in Janesville house fire, home a total loss

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) A house is considered a total loss after fire destroyed it on Thursday night.

Battalion Chief Chris Lukas of the Janesville Fire Department said crews were called to a home on N. Henke Road around 9 p.m. for a report of a house that was “fully engulfed” in fire. When crews arrived on scene, they reported heavy fire conditions. Due to the advanced fire conditions , the fire was brought under control in 30 minutes. Crews remained on scene for about three hours.

Lukas said no other family members were home at the time of the fire; however, a dog that was inside was found deceased. No other injuries were reported.

Damage to the home was severe.

The fire is still under investigation at this time.
