Dixon Police have arrested a man wanted as Washington Elementary School went into a soft lockdown Thursday afternoon.
Arius Jafar Malone-Ball, 20, faces several felony charges, including unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance within 500 feet of a school, unlawful possession of cocaine and resisting a police officer.
Officers responded to a call for a disturbance in the 800 block of East Graham Street. Police attempted to stop a car that took off in the area.
Malone Ball allegedly exited the car while it was still in motion. Police found him in a garage in the 600 block of East Morgan Street after a short pursuit.
Police called for the lockdown because of the location of the pursuit. No one was hurt, and the lockdown was lifted within a half hour.
Police say Malone Ball had two outstanding warrants. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
