District 205 schools offering free meals for kids

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Even though school is out for the summer, some area schools are staying open to feed students from around the city.

RPS 205 is giving out free breakfast and lunches this summer at over a dozen schools to kids 18 and younger. Some of the food on the menu includes pancakes, sandwiches, and fresh fruits. Children also do not have to be an RPS 205 student to receive a meal.

Food will be provided Monday through Friday until July 11. Meal times vary from school to school. Below is the schedule:

Ellis, Eisenhower, Gregory and Lewis Lemon

Breakfast: 7:50-8:10 a.m.

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Kennedy/Wilson ASPIRE

Breakfast: 8-8:30 a.m.

Lunch: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Summerdale

Breakfast: 8-8:20 a.m.

Lunch: 10:45 – 11:05 a.m.

Roosevelt

Breakfast only: 9:30-10:30 a.m.

First Lutheran Church & Swan Hillman

Lunch only: 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Thompson

Lunch only: 12:30 – 1:00 p.m.
