Der Rathskeller closes in Rockford after nearly 90 years

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- A German restaurant is shutting down after spending nearly 90 years in Rockford.

Der Rathskeller announced Tuesday on Facebook that it was closed for business.

The restaurant says it is looking for a new owner with "hope to re-open in the near future."

Customers with a valid gift certificate issued within the last year will be refunded. You can mail the certificate with a return address to the following address for a refund:
