UPDATE: Machesney Park man charged with killing 70-year-old mother

A Machesney Park man is now facing first degree murder charges after his 70-year-old mother is found dead in his apartment.

Kent Stoner, 46, was charged with first degree murder for the death of his mother, Sharon Stoner.

Around 10 a.m. Monday, Winnebago County Sheriff's deputies responded to a medical assistance call at the Bay View Apartments in the 200 block of Northway Park Road in Machesney Park.

When deputies got into the ground level apartment, they found Sharon of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin dead with what the Winnebago County Coroner described as traumatic injuries.

The woman found dead in Machesney Park on Monday morning was 70 years old, according to the Winnebago County Coroner's Office.

The coroner says it appears the woman died from traumatic injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the preliminary cause of death.

The woman's name will be released once her family is notified. The death is under investigation by the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office.

Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a suspicious death Monday morning.

Authorities found a woman dead in the 200 block of Northway Park Road Monday morning. The investigation is being treated as a homicide, according to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office.
