Deputies arrest Rockford man on gun charges after traffic stop
A 27-year-old Rockford man faces charges after investigators say he ran from Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies during a traffic stop.
Malcolm Turner is charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and resisting a peace officer.
On February 8, deputies stopped a silver sedan carrying four men in the 400 block of North Day Avenue. According to investigators, the driver of the vehicle – who they later identified as Turner – jumped out of the car. He was arrested a short time later.
Deputies say Turner tossed away a handgun during the chase. It was later found, along with a second handgun under the seat of the car.
Turner is in the Winnebago County jail.
