Man charged for Pecatonica murder, victim identified

PECATONICA, Ill. (WIFR) -- A Pecatonica man was arrested on murder charges for a stabbing death Thursday night.

David W. Baldwin, 52, faces two counts of first-degree murder for the stabbing death of a 52-year-old man.

Baldwin, who turns 53 on Saturday, was arrested on an unrelated warrant out of Wisconsin and later identified as a suspect.

Authorities were called to the 300 block of East Seventh Street for a disturbance around 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, a man was found dead at the home.

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Scott A. Rocen. According to an autopsy, Rocen died from multiple stab wounds.

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death as a homicide in Pecatonica.

Baldwin is being held at the Winnebago County Jail. He is considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
