Brenton Strobert, 26, was arrested on warrant. Police say he was a convicted sex offender, but failed to register before Wednesday's arrest.

DeKalb police assisted the Illinois Attorney General with a search of possible child pornography images. This happened at the Lincoln Tower apartment in the 1500 block of West Lincoln Highway around 8:30 a.m.

Officers found several images of child pornography, but also came across suspicious materials, which prompting them to call in the Kane County Bomb Squad.

The bomb squad took the materials off-site and safely destroyed them, causing loud explosive sounds, according to police.

Strobert was charged with 10 counts of child pornography and failure to register as a sex offender.
