DEKALB, Ill. (WIFR) -- If you're not sure what to do with extra candy from Halloween, a DeKalb program offers a way to pay it forward to U.S. military members.

The "Sweets4Troops" program has collected excess, leftover and unwanted Halloween candy for troops overseas since 2014. The idea came from DeKalb businessman Michael Embrey.

Last year, "Sweets4Troops" collected 3,000 pounds of candy for military support groups. The treats are sent as part of Holiday Packages for military personnel serving at various locations throughout the world.
