Afternoon fire leaves home on Arcadia Terrace uninhabitable

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Updated: Feb. 1, 2019, 6:10 p.m.

Rockford Fire says a house fire in the 2900 block of Arcadia Terrace caused $25,000 in estimated damage and made the home uninhabitable.

Officials determined the fire was accidental. The owners were not home when the fire started, arriving after crews were on scene.

The Red Cross responded to assistant the residents with temporary plans for relocation.

The Rockford Fire Department is on the scene of a house fire in west Rockford.

Crews learned about the fire in the 2900 block of Arcadia Terrace around 3 p.m. and arrived within five minutes of a call.

No one was hurt or home at the time of the fire. Officials say the fire started in the kitchen area and spread to the attic.

The cause of the fire is unknown. The Red Cross is helping the two residents find housing while the fire is under investigation.
