ROCKFORD, Ill (WIFR) -- Local elementary students have been spending the week working on their creativity.
Friday's stop had them learning how to make food at an Italian restaurant. As part of the Creativity Starts Here program, Rockford Keith students went to Giovanni's Friday morning to learn more about the culinary arts.
Workers and faculty helped the students, aged four to ten, make ravioli and toss special dough for pinsa pizza.
"There is so many layers to different organizations and businesses around our community that not everybody gets to see and so the goal of this week is to get them into different types of careers and businesses/organizations that they can see all the different levels."
The intersession program allows children at Keith to get involved with real-world experiences in the community and teach them valuable life skills.
