Couple admits to hitting child found with scars at Rockford school
A man and a woman were charged in a DCFS investigation after a child was found with scars at a Rockford school.
Lamika Wheat, 25, and Raynard Williams, 25, admitted to hitting a child, according to the Winnebago County State's Attorney's Office.
Rockford Police say the alleged abuse was reported to the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services on February 14, 2019. A school employee says the child had suffered scars on the back.
Wheat and Williams were recently indicted on charges of aggravated battery to a child under 13 and domestic battery. If convicted, both face up to five years in prison.
The couple's next court appearance is set for Dec. 12, 2019.
