ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Students at Conklin Elementary in Rockford are celebrating Arbor Day by planting several trees on school grounds.

The students learned about how important trees are for our planet and our community and how to care for them. The kids also presented skits and songs to the hundreds in attendance.

Mark Stockman from the City of Rockford says it’s an important lesson for kids to learn while they’re young. He says they’re the planet’s future so it’s time they learn how to best take care of it.
