ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Nearly 700 churches around the world host a special prom tonight for those with special needs. One church in Rockford is playing host.

City First Church opens its doors for Night to Shine 2020 which is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. Guests get the royal treatment greeted with a red carpet, paparazzi, hair and makeup and will be topped with a corsage or boutonniere. Organizers say it’s a night to give those with special needs a prom experience like no other, where everyone is crowned king and queen.

Jennifer Eckerson the Kids Pastor at City First Church expresses her thoughts, "It's been really special, we've had hundreds of volunteers come out tonight to be a part of this event. And we're just super honored to be able to love and care for our community. And for those with special needs and their families."
