WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) - Now that the holidays are over, it's time to un-deck the halls and dispose of the Christmas tree. There are a couple options for recycling your tree in the stateline this year.
You can drop off your tree at one of Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful's 13 regional collection sites from January 1 to January 15. Those sites can be found at http://www.knib.org/programs/christmas-tree-recycling/
Rock River Disposal will collect trees from Rockford residents on their normal garbage day from January 8 to 11.
Make sure the tree is bundled with string or twin, not wire. The bundle should weigh less than 50 pounds. Make sure there are no ornaments, lights or other decorations on the tree.
