Lightfoot calls e-cigarettes “the gateway” for children to get addicted to vaping and nicotine, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Along with U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, Lightfoot discussed the dangers of vaping Monday morning, and what must be done to stop it.

In Illinois, there have been 52 confirmed cases of vaping-related lung disease. Twelve more cases under investigation, while one Illinoisan has died from a vaping-related illness.

The Trump administration says it plans to ban all non-tobacco flavored electronic cigarettes.
