Charges announced in two Rockford murder cases, one overdose case

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Charges were announced in two Rockford murder cases and one overdose case.

Rockford police chief Dan O'Shea and Winnebago County State's Attorney Marilyn Hit Ross announced the charges on Friday.

Eric Brown, 28, is charged with murder, home invasion, and armed robbery for fatally shooting Robert Wash on Harrison Avenue last month.

Brown was already in jail on unrelated charges.

Shawnqiz Lee, 28, was charged with murder and home invasion for a fatal shooting of Julian Young Jr. Police say it happened on Feb. 3, 2018 in the 400 block of South Henrietta.

Lee also faces a possible extended term sentence. He was already in custody on an unrelated warrant.

Mitchell Wimbush, 23, was charged with drug-induced homicide and delivery of a controlled substance after a deadly overdose in May 5, 2017.

The victim was identified as Phillip John Charles Anderson Hamilton Jr. Police say he died from adverse effects of the narcotics.

Police say it happened in the 1400 block of 12th Avenue. Police have issued a warrant with a $1 million bond for Wimbush's arrest.

All three suspects are considered innocent unless proven guilty by the court of law.
