Candy company to build distribution center in DeKalb

DeKalb city leaders say the Ferrara Candy Company, makers of SweeTarts, Nerds, Fun Dip and others, will build a 1.6 million-square-foot distribution complex, just south of the DeKalb Oasis near I-88.

The company is expected to add 500 jobs when the complex opens in 2021. Its investment in the city is estimated at more than $100 million.

The complex will be located on 106 acres in the ChicagoWest Business Park.

DeKalb leaders hope this project will encourage other companies to choose the city for future developments.
