ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A watchdog group says we’re paying too much for our cable and satellite services but they’re offering ways to help fix that.

The Citizens Utility Board or CUB suggests looking at our current bill and cutting any extra services or channels we don’t’ frequently use.

They also suggest we compare our current bill with another company to see if we could get a cheaper rate. CUB says it’s important to let people know help is out there for their cable frustrations.

“We had a survey that showed a large number of people really aren't happy with their cable service or their bill. What we try to do is get people good information which is hard to come by nowadays,” says Bryan McDaniel with the Citizens Utility Board.

CUB says 75% of people in the state of Illinois are paying too much for cable. If we’re not happy with our current service, CUB suggests we ditch cable and try an online streaming option like Netflix or Hulu.
