ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Lou Backrodt Auto Mall, First Northern Credit Union, 95.3 the Bull, and The Autism Program of Easterseals host the 9th Annual Autism Awareness event at Lou Bachrodt.

The event takes place to help people learn more about Autism Spectrum Disorder, services, and resources available throughout Northwest Illinois. Special guest Catherine Whitcher talks about her mission to educate and empower parents and professionals on how to design and implement Special Education programs for success.

"Autism impacts 1 in 68 people, and if you take the girls out of that, that's 1 in 42 boys. So there are a lot of people in Winnebago County that are living with the diagnosis and there's lots of help here, so this is the place to be if you have a loved one with Autism Spectrum Disorder," says The Autism Program of Easterseals Program Manager, Lori Davie.

The event includes activities to involve the whole family and donations are made to The Autism Program of Easterseals.
