ROCKFORD, Ill (WIFR)--- Students at Boylan Catholic high school showcased their artwork completed throughout the school year.
Many students took inspiration from powerful moments in history and from individuals that have served the county.
Setting this year apart from previous years is the student created mural for the VFW Post in Loves Park.
"I was approached for the project at the beginning of the year by a member of the Loves Park VFW Post and Boylan Catholic decided to take the commission, create this piece of artwork for the veterans," says art department chair Missy Minardi.
With more than 20 students working for a total of five months, the mural doesn't only mean the world to veterans but also to the creators.
"The best part of it was seeing the veteran's excitement," says senior student Rose Prchal.
