ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- The Boylan Girls Basketball Team has 21 wins this season on the court. But, you could argue the team's biggest victory has come off the court.
Boylan Girls Head Coach, Paul Perrone, spearheaded a fundraiser helping the Poor Clare Nuns who live in silence and seclusion at the Corpus Christi Monastery on South Main Street in Rockford. Through donations and the sales of wristbands, the team was able to raise more than sixteen thousand dollars for the nuns. And today a check was presented to folks at the Corpus Christi Monastery Chapel following the afternoon mass.
Boylan Girls’ Basketball player, Mia Dally speaks, "It's really special since a lot of us have spent a lot of time learning about them. And a lot of us will give our prayer intentions to them. So we spend a lot of time knowing about them, so being able to do what they do for us every day is really special."
