ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Boylan and Belvidere North high schools have teamed up to restore a well-known Belvidere mural in time for Veteran's Day.
The mural will be re-dedicated after Belvidere's Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11. More than 20 students and teachers touched up the community mural after years of fading.
Boylan’s art department chair Missy Minardi originally designed the mural in 2004. Her grandfather served during World War II, while her father and brother have also served in the military.
“I can’t think of a better way to express my gratitude than by uniting students from across the region to create a piece of art that commemorates the pride and patriotism of the men and women who serve our country,” said Minardi.
The mural will be re-dedicated after Belvidere's Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 11, which begins at 9:30 a.m. at VFW Post 1461 on 1310 W Lincoln Ave.
